roughly 15k on this setup. Both turbos are PDR modified units. I recently had the cold piping off to change the oil and clean the filter. both turbos felt great, no play in the shafts, etc.

there are a couple spots on the cold pipe that have rubbed, but when just popping the hood to show them off, the spots are not visible :)

HX40 turbine housing has a heat blanket on it. (really helped spool-up)

This will be a 100% nut and bolt kit WITHOUT the exhaust manifold!!!!! you can pick up an OEM 2nd gen manifold cheap, and with the lower EGT's provided by the twins, it should stay crack-free for a lot longer than w/ a single.

IE, EVERYTHING you need minus the manifold!!!!

I was pegging a 60psi DiPricol gauge, so I put a 100psi gauge, and it's making right at 59-60psi LOL Oh well, the turbos have led a very easy life.

with Smarty TNT/Race on #9, TST on number 4, and Flux 1's, I have to work to see 1300* Rarely see above 1175* or so even on an agressive pass.

Forrest, mind if I ask you where you got the heat blanket for the hx-40. Is it a custom fit one or a generic one? I want to get one for my silver bullet. You can pm me if you dont want to clutter the ad.
Thanks in advance,
Alex

wanting to go with a bigger setup... I've got a 64/71 coming and am planning on hanging an S4xx under it once I get dual CP3's
Sounds like fun, figured you wouldn't be one to go down in size with the playtoy. You could probably fit these on your 12 valve, you know that right?

I believe the brand is DEI? you can get them from Summit racing

Thanks man, summit didnt seem to have it so I looked up DEI and found there "universal turbo insulation kit" is that it?

Thanks again,
Alex

EDIT: you were right, summit has them!:bang

yeah, was actually planning on putting them on the '98 and using the sps62 as the top, but it looks like the '98 might be going to a new owner, and he wants the 62 on it

what would this setup be compared to in another brand like II or ats

hard to compare as II uses Schwitzer turbos and ATS uses overpriced Schwitzer turbos...

I would venture that an II setup will spool up better with the more modern turbos, but you're also paying twice as much.

I probably wouldn't recomend this setup on a 12v with a manual tranny, but a Common rail has no problems spooling these turbos. I've driven this truck everywhere from sea level (where I live) to as high as 12,500ft (just a few weeks ago actually) and the drivability and EGT control are great :)

good all around setup IMO... Will Underwood made 900rwhp with his 40/3B setup with nitrous. Drag racing? yes... towing? yes

it's not the latest and greatest, but like I said, for the money, it's tough to beat. a high falutin' single can put you over $2k these days :( S300/S400 = $4k or more
