I busted my dana 70 a while back and finally found an 80 to replace it but it has 4.10 gears. Should I re-gear the front to 4.10's or the rear to 3.54?

Truck is in my sig and I run a 33" tire. But it's also a semi daily driver and play toy at the local 1/8th mile drag track.

I run 2nd low pulling now, with 4.10's could I pull 3rd?

I would stay with 3:54's.

4:10's would take some load off of the driveline, but then you dont have a real good gear to run like you do now. 2nd would be too low, where 3rd would be too high. With 3:54's, second is a really good gear, and you shouldnt start having any real driveline issues until over 500hp i dont think. 3rd with 4:10's would probably be do-able, but I think it will be a little higher than what is desired unless you are pulling a real light sled, or in some good loose dirt.

4:88's and 3rd gear with our trucks is a good gear for a full on puller, but obviously wont be very fun on the road.

well if my calculations are right... which they may be totall off... just goin by info I found online...

I'd be going from 24.5mph to about 30mph wheel speed... Think I can pull that with my setup I got???? Next year I do plan on bigger injectors and probably different turbo... Right now I'm shy of 500rwhp a bit, but according to the ET calculator here on CompD it's just shy a few hp. Haven't been on the dyno yet.

3.54 with a five speed. third low works great. with a good clutch you should be good all for a long time. but make sure you have a good clutch

My wife's truck has 3.54 gears and she runs in 2nd low with the T/C locked up, and pretty sure it would hit third if she wasn't scared to shift it. 4.10's would for sure hold 3rd gear.

4.10's and 33's would be annoying on the street, especially over 65. You'd do good on the 1/8th though. It really depends on what you want your gearing for the most...street, pulls, 1/8 mile, etc
