47re tc in a 48re trans?

so long story short i ordered an ats 5star tc for my 48re it shows up and its for a 47re because the pump flange is stepped and will not seal against the little ring on the stator shaft i phone ats and they say it doesnt need to seal on that shaft but other tranny shops in my area tell me it wont work properly.so my question is will it work or not? and what will it affect if anything? any insight or personal experiences would be great thanks
 
Pull the plastic seal and run it if your in a hurry. Been running mine like that no issues.
