I'm looking to convert a 4x4RE trans to 2wdRH. The OD half of the RH has the gov and if I swap the VB to an RH style will it make it a functional RH? I plan on toggeling the OD and Lockup to keep the PCM out of the picture. Does anybody know if this wont work?

No, the pass through connectors are different sizes. You can drill out a RH case to work with a RE valvebody but you will somehow have to shim down the RE case to seal the RH pass through connector. Other than that, yes, the cases are the same and have all the passages to work correctly.

Sweet! I bet I can get an Allison dip stick tube O-ring to compensate for the electrical plug sizes. Maybe?:badidea:

I don't think that the passages for the hydraulic governor to the valve body are in the RE case. Someone correct me if I am wrong...

Yep, they are. Somebody makes a bushing for the 3 pin connector to fit the RE case. I just don't know who yet. If I can't find one I'll have one machined.

Good to know. That will make finding a replacement case easier for me...

Why not just use an RE plug and splice the wires?

You could use the RE plug and splice the wires if you have a way to plug into the RE connecter externally. The RH plug maybe easier though, due to flat pins instead of small round ones. The passages are the same, the governor support has the holes blocked off where the tubes plug in. Most aftermarket gov supports come with aluminum slugs to block them off and make it fit either.
