47re troubles, please help.

My friend has a 98.5 truck with 47re transmission. He has the BD pressure lock, upgraded valvebody & torque converter. Last year he did the TC lockup switch, like on TST website. His truck is throwing codes PO743, PO1693, PO1765 lately & the tranny keeps shifting from 4th to lockup when overdrive button is on. The more throttle you give it, the harder it shifts back & forth from 4th to lockup. What can be wrong here? I'm no auto guy & just typing what he is telling me over the phone.

Those two codes are normal for a lock up switch. If it's rapidly shifting in and out of lockup you could try adjusting the apps sensor or wrapping the black with tan (or is it orange?) stripe going from the alternator to the passenger battery in aluminum foil. If the foil fixes it then a more long term, cleaner fix would be to buy a DTT noise filter.

Tyler, do you happen to have a link to the write up you did on resetting the APPS? Also, do you know where all the grounds are on the engine to chassis to cab?

I don't know where all the engine and chassis grounds are. If you've got a service manual that should show ya.

Thanks, I found the reset procedure yesterday, it worked. The truck is running great now, we also wrapped the wire with aluminum foil.
