47rh in a 2002 dodge

Is it possible to put a 47rh into a 2002 that is already equipped with a manual. If it is possible what all needs to be done as for wiring and mounting. Any info is greatly appreciated. Let me also say this is for a 4wd.

47RH is the best way to do an auto in a manual truck. You just need a simple control scheme for the lockup and OD.
 
The only thing the computer controls on this trans is lockup and overdrive correct? What is the job of the potentiometer then? Is it just used to vary when lockup and overdrive kicks in?

That is exactly what it does... I shift both my lock-up and OD with toggle switches in the cab. Takes a little getting used to, but I personally like having control over everything since my VB is set up for semi-manual operation (I can let the transmission shift itself 1-3 or manually shift it myself in all gears)...
 
So this swap will work out fine if you dont mind shifting into OD and use lock up on switches. Other then that it should be fine? Whats the sensor connections like? Are they the same or do they need to be modified to fit the 2002 sensor harness?
 
The cable controls line pressure and shift points based on throttle position. If you are always running around in kill mode then you can just zip tie the lever all the way back.
 
im thinking about puttin a 47rh in my truck, what years have lockup, all of them?

94 and 95 are the only transmissions designated as 47RH both it's basically the same as a 47/48RE other than it still uses the old school mechanical governor system rather than an electronic one. The Output speed sensor should be the same, but you are going to need a vehicle side transmission solenoid control harness to splice in your constant power and your switched grounds. Also, if it is a completely stock transmission the first thing I would do to it is install a trans-go shift kit to help it live a little longer. That way it will hold up to mild power and you can always turn up the pressures more later after a rebuild should you decide to mod your truck more.

Don't think you have an output speed sensor on the RH do you?

The only thing electronic is the two solenoids for lock-up and overdrive, which are easily switched with toggle switches. I've had my LU and OD on switches for the last two years and it really isn't all that bad.

You can use pressure switches if you want also. Tie them into the gov pressure port.
