A few weeks ago I had issues with overdrive in my 48re in my 06 2500. it turned out the only issue was that the clutches were burned out. I bought the clutches from goerend when I built my trans not even 10,000 miles ago. I was wondering if there are any other ways to strengthen the overdrive unit besides just heavy duty clutches and steels and what can I do to make my new clutches last longer? any advice is appreciated.

I hope you're referring to more than just machining the pressure plate down for an extra clutch...I had a suncoast omega unit apart on my bench because it lost od, warped the clutches/steels and broke the pressure plate in 5 pieces.
