Considering purchasing a fully built 48re that comes with a standalone unit. What all needs to be done to swap this in for a 47re?

You'll need to retro your neutral safety switch and reverse lights wiring since the 48re NSS is completely different from the 47re. You'll need to use the 47re shift linkage/bracket and you'll no longer need a TV cable. Everything else should bolt in place, then you need to wire power, ground, and tps signal to the pcs controller.

There is a Sonnax piece that you can thread into the NSS hole of a 48re to convert it to a 47re style NSS. You would just need to switch over the rooster comb on the valve body to the 47re style and it should work like normal with no rewiring.

Thank you guys for the quick response guys. I found that adapter you are referring to. Looks like that would be the best / easiest way. Are you speaking from experience Grossihaus?

The Sonnax piece is one that we keep in stock here at Firepunk but I have never actually had a chance to use it.
