bought 03 dodge with 100,000 miles on it dont know how long its been since fluid has been changed if i change it know could damage trans? what do i do

Drop the pan and change it but do not do a complete flush. Also, being that it is an 03 you may have a 47re fyi.

thanks it is my first diesel and i didn't want to brun up the pump any suggestion on trans fluid

ATF4 from Mopar is nice

You have to use ATF +4 Mopar or Valvoline is fine. Drop the pan and check out the magnet in the pan also.
