About how much does a complete 4bt motor weigh? I think I'm gonna end up putting one in my F150. Figure that would be a lot easier than putting a 7.3 or 6.0 in it due to wiring and size. And I can try my hand with a Cummins. :D Figure I'll put it to the 350-400rwhp range and let it be. Also, anyone know a good source for 'em? I look for bread trucks with 'em on Ebay every once in a while, just wondering if there's a better source.

they weigh around 750. keep an eye out on craigslist, sometimes you find a whole breadtruck for a good deal. dont' know if youre gonna run stick or auto but if you find a ford bread truck with a manual you can bolt a ford 5speed right behind it.

Overdosed96 had one on here that is mint with low hours complete turn key $900

Stay away from ebay for the 4bt they are crooks. You can look on 4btswaps or craigslist for the best deals. I would expect to pay $1500-$2000 for a good running engine with full accessories and usually around 80,000-100,000 miles on it.

ive been on the hunt for one for a couple months for my '37 rat rod. so far cheapest ive found is $1700, im trying to hold out for a cheaper one.

heavy equipment salvage yards. Lots of high lifts and forktrucks ran those.

Thats a good place and I know Case equipment use them alot too... I think Komatsu might also.

Yep Case used them in all sorts of skid steers, most all of their loader/backhoes, medium hoes, and forklifts. Doesn't have to be old to be an 8v either, the 40XT (2003ish) that I just rebuilt the hydro in had one... I've seen a lot of them in logging equipment too.

LOL I actually had a farmer tell me if I went through all the hassle of scrapping his skid loader that I could have the engine... Had a bit of a fire though, so I need valve covers and all new gaskets throughout. Too bad it's NA and has a CAV pump. Still tempted to do it just to have it at the shop so I can slowly gather parts.
