I recently picked up a 913 pump for my 99. Before I installed it I put in a set of 4k springs. When it was on the other truck it started and idled great. After starting my truck it idled good, but once you revved it the idle would hang around 1500 and wouldn't come back down. Figured the springs were too tight. After adjusting and readjusting, the only way to stop the idle from hanging was leaving the retainers on 2 clicks. From memory, the spring retainers were around this many clicks on the stock springs. Truck idles consistently around 850 now and pulls smoothly to 4 grand. My question is, is it safe to leave the springs this loose and is there any chance of the retainers backing off and falling in the pump? What do you guys think?
