Of any of the 4L80E builders out there who would ya'll recommend and why?

Right now I'm leaning towards the Hughes. Pro's/Con's etc

Going behind a 5.9 CR over 1000hp in a 72 C-10

Jakes Performance...right up the road from you too. In the DFW area I believe.

Yep, Jake's Performance is in Sanger. They built the 4L80E in our Duramax race van.

Jake is nice guy to talk to as well. He spent hours on the phone trying to help me figure out my TH-200-4R problems form a different builder, then sent me a free VB to test out. None thing help as the trans was junk, but he tried his hardest and it was the first time I had ever dealt with him.

If I get the 200 built again, it will be by him. And when I do the 4l80e for my other truck, it will be done by Jake as well.

I've been really happy with my experience with them as well. I'm getting one of his new trans brakes put in now. I can't wait to see how it works. I've never launched off a trans brake before. I hope nothing in the driveline or axle pops.

Give Rossler a call, I've got his unit in my 94 twin turbo Impala at over 1000hp.

My buddy Stan (BlackSkyRacing) and I were talking.... He and I were thinking that a 4L80 would never hold behind a hi-hp diesel rig because of the torque and the way the tranny is built. Apparently otherwise?

Answer this... Whats a 4l80e based off of? What's a 47/48r based off of? Which is stronger?

The only real shortcoming on the 4l80 I see is a lack of upgraded parts for for the overdrive unit. I have thought about trying one and most I have talked to say if your running much weight keep it out of overdrive.

Jake's Performance 4L80 in my Z28 is holding up well, doesn't see diesel torque numbers, but it does get put through it's paces. Jake was helpful during the whole process.

Rossler also runs a tight outfit. Lots of local guys in Ohio swear by him, my friends love the Rossler trans they have. Nice guy and shop. His 4L80e Tbrake is a larger than Jakes, I have ground clearance requirements so I Jakes was the way to go.
