5 spd issue.

Dad just called me and said his truck is having issues. He has a 99 2500 4x4gasser (360 I know teribble) with a 5 spd. He said he pulled into a parking spot and shut the truck off, then when he went to leave the truck acted like it was stuck in 5th gear. When he let off the clutch it would die, however he said the shifter moved fine and the clutch pedal felt ok. After that he got out and pushed on the truck and it would roll, so I'm confused as to what might have happened to his 5 spd.

Any ideas?

I'm hoping I'll have time to drop the tranny this weekend but if we start planting this week it might be a month.

Id pull the shifter and double check to make sure it isnt stuck in 2 gears by the shift rails. I just had a truck towed in this morning with an identical problem.
