6.0L powerstoke 2004 need info

Hi I have a 2004 6.0L diesel in a E-350 box truck with 56,000 miles
It is in the shop for a head gasket and now they tell me that it needs a new short block they are going to warranty it.
will I be ok went I get it back.
Is the 2006-2007 motors any better???

Thats great, you will benefit from the knowledge that was gained on the 6.0 over the past few years. What happened to it?
 
I will be a remanufactured one. Only current model year stuff gets new stuff. Whats the build date of the truck?
 
whats the build date on this truck? is the ICP in the front or rear ?
