60 series Detroit EGR delete

Would I be able to take the EGR off of a 2004 60series Detroit it is bad and they want like $1500.00 to replace it.Parts and labor.the truck belongs to a freind of mine.Would it cause any problems not running one.

Yes you can remove it.

either plug/plate all ports, or find intake and exhaust manifolds off of a 2002 or early 2003 S60 and then get an engine ECM from the same vintage of truck. or see if your local DD dealer will reprogram the current computer to a pre-emissions calibration.
