I have a 64/71/14 currently on my truck and have a good deal on a s475. How would this turbo setup work. Is the 64 too big for the 475? I know a lot of people use a s480 and make some big power but I would be happy with somewhere between 600-700 hp. What are your thoughts?

A 64 isn't too big to go over a 475, but I don't think that turbine wheel is ideal for a twin setup. JMO. :badidea:

whats wrong with it?

All I see on the forums are people complaining of lag from the 71 turbine...that would lead me to believe its not an ideal setup in a twin configuration.

Am I wrong? I will admit it if I am...I know you've built a couple of twin sets havent you?

I wouldn't say the 71mm is a non-ideal turbine choice.

I didnt mind the lag on my 12v's 64/71 over s480, given the size of the chargers...

However, I'm no turbo expert.

I have a 62/65/12 over s475 spools up fast, I put down 600hp with bad tuning

I should be able to give some feedback on a 64/71 over 480 in about a week. With my truck at 4850 it will probably work well and not be too laggy.

I started out with a 62/71/14 over a 1.32 S-480 on my truck... I wasn't happy at all with the set. One of the best moves I made was stepping the primary down to a 1.1 housing S476 with a ED billet wheel... Drove the set completely content for a while... Just this morning I added E.D's Billet 66mm compressor wheel to the secondary. I only noticed about a 150-200 rpm slower spool up, However the power is much more intense. It seems much much stronger in the midrange and up top it's downright stupid. I know I have some more tuning time in front of me, to get it balanced perfectly...

With only about 15-20 miles of driving, and about 2-3 turns out of the wastegate im netting 72 lbs over all with about 33-35 on the primary side... Drive pressure/EGT wise it seems as though I can throw quite a bit more fuel/timing at it...

Long story short, a 64-71 over a 1.1 housing 475 is a nasty set... I personally wasn't happy with the 1.32 housing. It was a pig

I have the SS 64/71/13 over the s480 w/race cover, and I couldn't be happier. I do run 105% injectors to light them, so I think for pure extacy in the hp range you are wanting maybe a ss 62/71/13 over the s475???

are you going to be running the stock cam? bigger cam will help you spool the 64/71 over 480 combo. add .02
