Found 2 trucks with 64mm turbos from popular manufacturers that won't pass the 2.55" tech plug, even though they were sold as 64mm turbos. They both measure ~2.57" at the compressor housing and failed the 2.55" plug. I'm curious if anyone else has measured their 64mm turbo?

Thanks for posting that. Ill have to keep that in mind if i ever upgrade, because it will likely be a 64mm turbo so I can run the 2.5 class. What chargers are they?

Eric

That sucks! :bang

I would definately call the supplier. 64mm should be 2.5197 FWIW.

What does the wheel inducer check?

That is so close I doubt you could bush it.

Makes mental not.

Need to turn up 2.5 bushing for my gt42.

I was leaving the two manufacturer's names out of it so I'd get a honest response instead of brand bashing. Surely someone else runs in the 2.5" classes with 64mm 'chargers???

mines 64+ and passes, depends on how much clearance one has when machined

I guess we got a bad batch then? I'm assuming that both of you have been teched with the 2.55" plug?

yeah @stanford there real strict !! they took one look at mine and said your in the wrong class , I said why ? he said this is stock charger I said no its 2.5 he said that turbo is way to big for a 2.5 , I said you wanna bet so he put his plug and every witch way he could it would not go then another guy tried to force it in then I hit him on the arm and said HEY MAN ITS NOT GOING QUIT FORCING IT he looked at me then another tech guy said its ok

No,,,2.5 is ok the makers of the turbos need to quit using junk center sections, and charging top dollar for turbos.

Sounds like we need a 2.6 class.

I thought that last year but I have changed my mind. I really like the 2.5" class. I good running stock chargerd Dmax or CR CTD can be very competitive right off the street. There are some VP44 and P-pump trucks that run real well in this class. Make it a true 2.5" class no bushing and limit to only one CP3. I think that is a great class for a hot running daily drive truck with out a built engine. $.02

Thats the only thing about extravaganza is the bushing down for 2.5 that makes no sence ???
