Is it possible to machine the .70ar/12cm T3 exhaust housing to accept the 74mm wheel? The reason I ask is that eventually I will be going back to a single and Im not sure what to go with. It has to move 600+hp of air and still spool very close to a 62-64/71/.80ar S300.

I think a 64mm would move enough air for 600hp but im not sure how much above 600hp it could go?

Any advise, experience, ideas that could help me figure this out would greatly be appriciated.

Thanks,
Josh

The .70 can do it, but it is very thin. Probably should use the 13cm SS from HTT.

Yeah I think you can but it would not be as sturdy as a 14cm, BTW the S300's biggest wheel is actually a 80mm/73mm. Once you take the jump to an S400 it is 83mm/74mm...

Give chris from E.D. a call a .91 A/R T4 works really good on a 66/73. If you roll into it i think it drives like a hx35 on the street. But if you just put it to the floor it lites at 1800rpm drive normal you wont have any problems. I believe getting a smaller housing for that 73 exh wheel is goin to make it even laggier on the street.

I need to get back on the dyno, but I think I can get over 600 with the HE551 VGT with some more timing and tuning...71/108 compressor wheel, 86/75 turbine, and I've got her spooling good enough to to a 25psi+ launch with a DTT single disk.

Not what you asked, but another possible option?? Why the switch away from twins??

Chris

Nice truck Josh ! Brings back memories....

Smaller housing will make it perform better on the street.

Chris, im not going to switch from the twins untill I can lay down some numbers close to or over KTA's numbers. Which will take some dyno time and someone who has more experience tuning these beast's then I do. If and ONLY if I can do what I mentioned above will the twins come off. My main reason for taking them of is the fact that I just love the simplicity of one charger. Second reason is that my truck is just way to quiet with the twins.

I thought about experimenting with the HE551 VGT and yea thats where it has remained, just a thought.

I just wanna try something proven and that I know will work when i bolt it on the truck. It will probably have to remain a T3 housing because i dont see the gain in flow from the T4 helping me any before my 2500-2600rpm power peak. And thats the main thing with the VE, you gotta get things turning early if you wanna be in the high hp numbers.

Thanks timebomb! Thats exactly what my truck used to look like!

I know what you mean...I'm tired of dealing with the trade offs of a bigger single, so I'm going twins again, just like I knew I would.

Good luck going for bigger numbers, you're already up there pretty good with the VE anyway!!

You cannot resist the voices any longer......

Josh, I know we had talked in the past. If you want to explore some options, give me a shout. Chris

i dont know about on a VE truck, but theres been quite a few 600-620hp trucks with a super b, add a race cover and I'm sure it'll do 650. if a VE can fuel it to that, i dont know.

Josh, I never had to much luck with my 64/71 13cm/ss on my VE Even with stock injectors it ran hot as hell.. I really think the 16cm housing would have been better. The 13 spooled great. Nice smooth powerband. Not saying they are bad, I just think maybe not the best combo for a VE truck. Its amazing how early we have to get them to hit to make power. I don't have an answer for you just wanted to give you my past exp.
