putting a 12v in f350 4x4 want a 6spd manual? also need adapter plate to go from 12v block to 6spd bell. any suggestions??

are you set on a 6spd or open to options. i would say just put a NV4500 in there and be done if its just a DD with little towing.

thanks for info but its a work truck i haul 8 - 10,000lbs daily. The g56 thats the dodge 6spd correct. forgive my ignorance but i've been out of the truck thing for a few years. The g56 what is its gvw rating? and is there a factory plated that hooks it to the engine

There's two six speeds. The G56 came in 05.5+, and the NV5600 started in late 99 and went to early 05. The earily NV5600 (99-00) had the weaker 1.25 input shaft. In 01 the input shaft went to 1 3/8.

A 12v bellhousing adapter will bolt up, you will just need a starter sapcer if its an automatic

Depends on if he uses a 13" flywheel for the NV5600. Stock NV4500, no spacer, G56, no spacer, 1.25" NV5600, no spacer.

You also have the option of a zf6 from a Ford, although it will not fit in a stock automatic trans tunnel. I have one in my conversion and am very happy with it.

What else has to be swapped to use a ford zf6?

if your towing, go with any of the 6 speeds

they are all rated to tow 10,000 in stock form

I meant anything special to use a ford zf6 behind a cummins.

Sorry, I misunderstood. Need an adapter plate, crank spacer and longer flywheel bolts.. I used a cummins starter, 6 speed flywheel and clutch. I had to grind on the side of the trans for the starter to clear when it is engaged (extended). No computer mods are needed.

Fairly simple then. No need to change input shaft or anything. Just use aftermarket flywheel and clutch.

Thanks. I've found one that I just might use in my destroke.

Ahhh *edit* just got message its a Chevy zf6. Would that change anything?

Also you have to use a pilot bearing that will accept the Ford input shaft into the cummins flywheel. Valair installed one in my flywheel when I ordered from them for no extra charge.

I know the Ford zf6 uses an external cooler whereas the Chevy version does not. I'm unsure about any other differences.

Note: the trans tunnel in an automatic Ford will not fit a zf6. The tunnel has to be made taller.

correct on the zf6 differences. im not even sure the ford zf uses and external cooler, i think it just has a circulation pump inside to keep the oil flowing

Do all of them have the cooler? For some reason I thought it was an option.
