8.3 cummins performance ?

What kind of HP and TQ can you get out a 8.3 ? Are those torque monsters ?
I can get one of those for almost nothing but I just want to know if it's a waste of money or not before I buy it !

theres one guy with a old ford with an 8.3 that he pulls with

I work on Ford's and Freightliners with 8.3's all the time you can get them running really well and not do too much to them. All we usually do is some pump work and change turbos and you can make an easy 400-450 hp.
