91 pump problems

A buddy of mine has a 91 that keeps shearing the key way off. The pump has been rebuilt roughly a year and a half ago. It's all stock. Any ideas?

First thought comes to mind.... what is he torqueing the nut to?

I don't know the torque, but yes same gear.

I wonder if the keyway on the gear is wallowed out.

i would check the gear as he shouldn't be shearing keys off that easy..i had the pump head come loose on my 93 and bind the shaft till it shattered and it didn't shear the key with that kind of load..
