92 12v power

yesterday my buddy bought a 92 3500 12 valve. I dont know a lot about the 12 valves, but whats some good cheap ways to turn it up some. All hes going to do is pull a tralier with it.

auto, but i think it been rebuilt and beefed up some

I would start out with a smaller exhaust housing first for faster spool. The one on is truck if stock is a 21cm housing and takes a very long time to spool. A 16cm would be a good upgrade if he is pulling a trailer.
