This is a summary of what it's doing...everything I've noticed...

(btw-the last two fluid changes have added full syn fluid)

  • When starting it in the morning I either have to sit in neutral for a few seconds or put it in drive and wait a few seconds before it kicks in
  • If I drive about 50 feet and have to stop right after first driving it, it feels like it's sticking in 2nd gear and bogging down...pushing the truck
  • It used to kick in and out of lockup at highway speed...I cleaned the TPS and it doesn't really do that anymore
  • When I'm going into lockup right around 45 it will kick into what feels like neutral for a few seconds then lockup
  • When going around corners it feels like it's low on trans fluid...fluid isn't low...kind of foamy tho
  • When first driving it in the morning it feels like it's bouncing off the rev limiter before shifting...have to back out of it to get it to shift

Any ideas???

THanks in advance everybody!

First off... do you have a 47re or 47rh? if you have an RE look at my most recent post, "help no forward gears" it has useful info on the 47re and troubleshooting...

but right off the top of my head, sounds like a mix of valve body and governor solenoid issues...

given the year of the truck... i would guess that you have an RH, but idk, someone coulda swapped it over... but a 95 came with an RH, so if it still has the same tranny that came from the factory it is an RH...

answering your question tho... look underneath your truck at the transmission... on the driver side, if it has 3 separate electronic plug-ins
(a total of 10 ish wires or more) then it is an RE, the RE has more wiring given that the pressure is controlled by governor solenoid and sensor... the RH has a mechanical governor in the tailshaft... so it has less wiring, maybe 4ish on a single plugin towards the front/middle of the tranny....

Sounds like output speed sensor could be the first place to start?

Oh and do you guys think it has anything to do with a drainback valve?

It's a stock trans and nothing figured out...the problem seems to be worse when it's colder outside...
