I have a 98 12v that i did a 5 speed swap on, out of a wrecked 99 truck about a year ago... Now the tcase is makin some rattling noise. I have a DHD out of a 95 i was goin to put in it but have been told that it won't work.

I can't see why it wouldn't but im sure there is some reason if some one could help me understand the reason it wouldn't thats be great thnx!

If the old one is a DHD I think it's a straight swap...if it's a DLD then you'll need a different slip yoke and/or output shaft IIRC.

The 95 t case will bolt up, but the output shaft may be smaller even if it is a DHD.

was the 95 tcase behind a stick also? autos are 23spline and manuals are 29spline on the input.

then the only thing that maybe different is the shift pattern and the output like mentioned above. If you have the output slip-yoke from the 95 then you can change it be removing ujoint and changing slip-yoke. They use the same ujoint.

An 02 DHD was a direct swap into my 96 (in place of the dld). The speedo sensor for the 96 will not bolt into the 02 with out some modification. But if the 98 uses the rear for speed you can just leave the speedo sensor in the 95 case to plug the hole in the tail shaft.
