96-97 pcm's interchangeable???

alright guys, on my half ton conversion i have a 96 motor and pcm in a 97 truck. i have had some people tell me that i will have to get a 97 pcm to work with my truck, i have talked to several people and nobody could give me a definite answer. just wondering if anybody had done this and switched these two years?

you are ok 96 97 is the oane you want to use they interchange just fine dont lose sleep over this

I have next question, will 97 ecu interchange with 98 12v ECU ?

No 98 can be interchanged with 97 but not the reverse
