my 4 wheel drive stopped working so i took off the CAD to try to do a home made posi lok type of system and when i took it off the shift fork would not move unless i tapped it with a hammer. I then opted to just put is and the shift collar into the engaged position. it has held up so far but when going over 50 mph the entire truck begins to shake violently and it continues to get worse the faster i go. I lost some fluid when i removed the CAD. could this be the problem? this shaking is very bad and i do not brake to break anything

Im not saying this is your problem, but last shaking problem i had on my 97 was my rear drums were out of balance. Would only shake from 50mph and up.

driveline binding up, due to being run in 4x4 on pavement? all tires exactly the same size?

This started literally right after i locked the front axle shafts with the shift collar together. Its not in 4 wheel drive but because it is locked the front drive shaft spins with the axle now. I will try using hose clamps to balance it and see if it stops

Save your money and order one of these:

I have one on my 98' for 4+ years now and ZERO issues. Plus you can run 2-low.
