97 International tow truck

Friend of mine has a 1997 International tow truck with the 7.3l and a Spicer trans. The truck runs ok but not good enough, what can be done to get some more power out of it. He is open to suggestions other then pulling the motor and replacing it (tried that already).

The trick is to pull the 7.3 and replace it with a DT466, not just replacing with another 7.3
Hypermax can do some wild stuff with a 7.3, but it's expensive, and it wont last too long all pumped up.

just leave it how it is, the 7.3 is no speed demon in a tow truck but i will get the job done and run for quite a while, i have run a few of them with jerr dan beds, that 5 or 7 speed spicer on the other hand is a different story, there not the best tranny but still better then a slushbox
