Hey guys, I just bought my first diesel and love it so far, but have some questions. First, how do I ID my tranny? Im pretty sure its a 47RE from the research I've done. The part number is PK52119519AB, date code is 0838, and Serial # is 1120. Second problem is in 4th gear, when I'm going up a hill or slightly accelerating around 40-50 MPH it feels like the tranny doesn't know which gear it wants to be in. It will kick in and out of OD several times until i get above 50, then everything is fine. Any help troubleshooting this would be great, Im not much of a transmission guru.

Thanks

Man...... youll learn ALOT more if you search instead of asking... Very common problem in our trucks, its not switching gears its locking and unlocking the torque converter. search APPS problems... you shall find what your looking for.

oh yeah and its a 47re.

Its a 47re, CLEAN ALL YOUR GROUNDS, very common problem, remove both ground wires from the block (18mm) and hit the surface of the block and the cable ends with sandpaper until it shines then replace, also do the same to the ground wire that comes out of the wire harness around the fuel filter area and attaches to the block with 10mm head bolt. Also check the grey plastic ground connectors on the pass side fender for corrosion. If that doesn't work change the solenoid pack.

Wanted to thank you both, I had enough time one night to clean my grounds and the problem hasn't come back since.

THANKS

Glad we could help lmao that's what it's about
