98 engine in an 01 truck

Just wondering if I remove the complete 24v engine from the 98 (by complete I mean ecm, harness, and all) and placed it in a 01 if all would work correctly?

Or should the 01 pcm be replaced with the 98? Or the ECM be replaced to the 01 ecm.

The cruise and ac functions are what concerns me about this.

I think the 98 ecm wont work on the 01 because of the crank sensor on the 98 engine.

Im talking about using the 98 ECM with the 01 PCM.

The harness, sensors, and pcm are 98.

I dont think there is that much difference in the PCM, all it controls is the dodge end of things, if you think about it. The ECM feeds it a tach signal, and thats the only question now due to the difference in sensors. I would say hook it all up and try it. Worst case scenario you have to find a 98 PCM in a boneyard somewhere.
