A little miss

02 with Mach6s & Drag Comp. My VP died last fall and I installed a BlueChip VP44X. Definitely feels stronger with the extra timing but when it's <50 degrees it will miss under throttle being worse the colder it is. Above 50 and it runs smooth as glass. Chip says it's the big injectors causing the VP computer to go hard then soft because of the big sticks. Thoughts?

we just installed some 6.5's in an old blue chip so pumped truck. I thought the sticks were causing the lope, not really a miss but at idle it's pretty rough. With my 4's, drag comp and blue chip ho pumped 01' I had a definate miss around 1800. I changed everthing including the vp and it wouldn't go away so I left it and delt with it. Most likely it's the drag comp. My truck would surge not really a miss when cold. Do a search for potentiometer and you might find some good info.

Mine will do it without the Comp although the Comp amplfies it. Its not a surge but a definite miss when its cold out and you're in it hard. The way Chip explained it, its an occilation setup by the vp computer trying to compensate for the big sticks. All I know is it makes for a hassle when its cold out and goes away completely once ambient air temps reach ~50 degrees F. I don't drive it in the winter so I'm not losing sleep but would like to understand what's causing it.

chip told me the same thing but when I asked him I was concerned about the lope at idle when you take off in 2nd/3rd gear. good luck....

I went through this for two years and it still does it. Edge Juice and PS62/14 and Jammer 4's. If intake temp is below 50-60F it misses in the range of 20-30 psi. You can let off the pedal or floor it and it will clear up. The mid range sucks when it is cold. Ever worse with a trailer.

very light throttle my motor sounds like it has a thrown rod, goes as soon as the rpms come up.

That sounds similar to mine although mine does smooth out by putting the pedal to the floor. From I was told the pump has 2 more degrees of timing. The truck runs awesome during the summer so I'll live with it. Chip did tell me it would lope if I had big injectors and it does, especially when it's not warmed up. It gets a lot of looks sittin at a light sounding like a big cammed gasser. If I can line up some slicks I think it will run 11s pretty easy on fuel.
