guys need help wondering what can of power the dreaded 53 block can handle thinking serious about selling my smarty and keeping the ez for mpgs and the only power adder thanks

I have one in my pullin truck, been at 590+ for a year and a little over 600 for 3/4 of a year. Drove it hard almost everyday till last november. No problems yet.

I would think with the age of them they would have cracked by now if they were going to.

Im not scared, look at how many you read or hear about cracking, and think about how many 53 are out there. These engines are in dodges, some f 450and up, ups fed ex and all kinds of bread van trucks, school buses, yard jockey trucks, tractors and equipment, and what ever else im forgeting. Now watch mine will have a puddle under it tomorro.

i am over 600hp for over 2 years now.....knock on wood it's still running strog

Ask Gene (Sledpuller) what he thinks of the -53's :hehe: :hehe:

Some run from them, others run em with no worries.

have another ? fuel leak somewhere around the injection pump checked fitting, hoses, and even checked oil make sure the front seal in the pump i can't found nothing leak just wondering if it is when i am going down the road, at idle or shut off can't see the drip?

Are the injector lines leaking at the head and running off the head on to the ground? :poke:

1 in 8 53 blocks crack

28.5% of statistics are made up on the spot. LOL

I have had a 53 since new, and since '01 I've been over 450rwhp, and since '03 I've been over 500/1000 running 55Lbs boost.

I've had more problems with the drivetrain than with the motor...

Yep same as the rest of the majority here....just bought a 400K 53 truck stock and threw a Phat Shaft 62, DDP 150's, hotrod VP, .093 lines, Edge drag comp, etc at mine. No worries here!
