Here it is, nothing special just like every other cover. I cut it out on a manual lathe. For how much time I have into it I would highly recommend getting one from Jerrod Glover. Sometimes I am just too cheap. And no I don't want to make any body one, I was just bored tonight and thought I would post up what I did yesterday.

Looks good! How are you going to make the cheap tinny gear cover hold that HD piece?

There is a 3/16" thick steel ring that the (8) 10-24 bolts thread into. That will be TIG welded to the factory cover.

got the cover finished tonight.

Looks great!:clap: Looks like A LOT of work though, fun to try once but not twice I bet.

Looks great!

One question - Would there have been enough room to make a cover that you could fit the gear through? I have been planning to make a cover very similar to this, but I was hoping that the whole gear might be able to be removed. It looks like clearance might be tight next to the pulley there...

maybe,

i thought about that too, but I concluded it would be unnecessary for my needs. I think instead of making a bolt on cover, if you could somehow modify the factory cover to be a two piece design and be able to remove the entire top half of the cover you may be able to remove the gear if needed.

just curious as to whats up with the dual pulley there...looks like 2-8ribbed pulleys there???

did you do anything as far as sealing it? like a gasket or an o-ring?

not sure if it would be necessary.. but i guess if it does leak any you would still be able to do something with it.

pully is to run gm alternator on pump side of engine, because I have my ac compressor where dodge places the alternator.

there is a 3/32 oring in a groove that seals the cover.

Just curious by why would you want to do this?

Once you go to an adjustable pump gear I don't see any reason to remove the gear except to remove the pump, and even then why wouldn't you just leave it in the case?

Not a bad idea! I may have to look into that...

Because I'm cheap and I don't want to buy an adjustable gear. It would be nice to be able to remove the gear completely so you can clean the taper on the gear and pump shaft better without having to pull the whole timing cover.

I've thought about making my own adjustable gear, but that would be time consuming and I don't think it would be that big of a deal to pull the gear when i want to change timing if I could get it all the way off.

Nice work and thanks for the kind words. The adjustable gear not only makes it easy to change timing but is keyed to the pump shaft so you will never have your timing slip again. BTW I have parts here for the next batch of covers.
