advice on 24v upgrade

Ok this is probably the most faq on here but im wantin to get a little fun outta my truck without losing the transmission right away, and not sure the best route to go. Ive been running it stock for over a year now, so any added power would put me in heaven
 
A stock tranny isn't going to like any significant power upgrades. Even just a Comp or ADR can toast it quick. I would at the minimum install a performance VB before any power upgrades. Preferably, swap the torque converter for an aftermarket unit as well. Then you can add a Adrenaline, or whatever box you like. And you need guages!

What he said, save your pennies for a good tranny then add some power and you will be all smiles.
 
Don't forget gauges. get a comp and don't tap the wire yet until the trans is taken care of. then when the trans is good tap it. And like already said a v/b will hold a good bit of power for starters.
 
Airdog has a great sale right now, I'd do that to save you VP and like some of the others guys said... VB and TC at a minimum. A good tranny will make the truck feel stronger even with the power mods. Then I'd get a simple box like an Edge Comp or TST. I tried the Adrenaline and didn't like it much.
 
I agree. Thats what I did and its nothing extreme, but a lot of fun. Except I did it backwards, I waited for the tranny to go out before I upgraded anything in it... wish I wouldnt have.
 
Thanx for all the advice! Guages are definetly sure to come soon. If I do go with a vb and converter upgrade, i would be totaly safe to run a comp box or adrenaline on high? Would I even be able to sneak in some small injectors and still be safe? This might be askin for to much.....

Anyone have any idea how much a vb and triple disc converter upgrade would run me? Thinkn Goerend cuz its close

Do you have southern smoke on your tailgate?? Just curious cuz im from plant city and I would always see a silver dualie at gonzos with that sticker on the tailgate....just curious
 
do the tranny like said and i love the edge juice w/attitude on my truck never had a problem besides it smoked out the stock TC lol
 
Edge EZ or a power puck won't toast the stock trans.... and it's much better than stock...
 
A Goerend TC/VB will hold quite a bit of power. However, my tranny is starting to act a little goofy, so I don't know if your still totally safe with injectors. It is fine as long as your always giving it atleast like 1/3 throttle. Any less as it gets pissed...guess it just likes to go! But it does have 50k on it, with like 8 sled pulls, and some drag strip passes....

He has a Raptor 150.
 
Definitley talk to Dave at Georend, He built my tranny and it is AMAZING. He will be able to help you figure out what you need also.
