Ok, last weekend I installed a vulcan big line kit and an aeromotive lift pump on my truck, tonight I notice the pump leaking where the chrome pump motor housing meets the red anodized rotor housing. Anyone had or heard of this? Im sure aeromotive isnt going to warranty this pump since it had diesel fuel in it.

Im suppose to install this same setup on a friends truck tommorow but am reconsidering now.

Call 'em. I think you'll be surprised at their friendliness if nothing else.

you dont think it will kill my chance of a warranty if I tell them I used it with diesel?

Call them up, tell them where it's leaking and they will want you to send it in.

Pick up a cheap holly pump to get you by for a week or so ..... then when the pump comes back .... you take it off and keep it in the O'**** kit.

I don't know if it's company policy, but Aeromotive returned mine Next Day UPS when I sent my marine a1000 for service. Aeromotive is HQ'd in Kansas City, you should easily be within a day or 2 shipping anyway.

Sent my pump in to be fixed. They fixed it, sent it back and now a few weeks later its leaking again. Whats the deal? Could I be doing something wrong?

Sounds like the sealing material they used in that certain pump is not compatible with diesel fuel or something in the diesel fuel.

Well I installed the same pump on a buddies truck the next week after mine and his is doin fine. Luck maybe. I havent heard of anyone having problems with this pump. You would think that a pump that is gas/alcohol compatible wouldnt have any trouble with diesel.

Called aeromotive they said that I may need a larger draw tube. The pump may be cavitating because the stock tube isnt allowing the pump to get the fuel it needs. Im sending my pump back again to have it looked at and im gonna install a bigger draw tube.

Aeromotive pumps have no trouble with diesel, What are you running for fuel pressure? Are you running a remote regulator?

Well the pump is going back to aeromotive again this morning. My holley blue came in so I have a backup pump now. Except after I installed it my fp gauge needle spikes between 10 and 14psi like crazy now. The aeromotive pump we put on my friends truck is now leaking all over the place. So it looks like the pump may not be bad after all. Something's wrong in the system. Im starting with the draw tube.

Diesel is a solvent and can eat through seals. That is why they make special fuel hose just for diesel also. I bet it is eating the seals.

According to aeromotive, diesel fuel is a better conductor of electricity than gas or alcohol, so somehow (which I dont remember our whole hour long conversation) the wires in the motor corrode and break. It has nothing to do with seals. They think that the small size of the factory draw tube and the 12 inches of factory line that I tied into is restricting the flow and causing the pump to cavitate and blow the seals.

Have you tried the holley blue on the truck. And you might try to put a needle valve on your fp gauge and it will make the fp gauge act right.

Yes the holley is on my truck right now. It holds 10psi. It takes about 10 miles of driving every time I start the truck to get the needle to quit bouncing. It never did this before with the aeromotive pump. What is a needle valve?

Well my pump is back from aeromotive that I sent in the first week of november. I dont think I will use it for the diesel. My buddies aeromotive strarted leaking. We sent it in to get looked at and in the meentime installed a 1/2 inch draw tube. The pump came back. We installed it and it lasted only a few days before it started dumping fuel on the ground. We are both running holley blues now with no problems.
