Well as it says, I am trying to tune my AFC off the truck. I did all the rack travel mods and figured that since I had it off the truck, I would use my air compressor to tune it. Here was the results that has me confused. I figured I wanted full travel at 30psi. So I set my regulator to 30psi, and only got half travel. So I thought the spring tension was too stiff. I tried to back the starwheel off and its out of movement. Now I am Stumped. It took a full 65psi for full travel. The AFC has never been touched, so its the spring that came in it. I need some wisdom here. I posted my problem in CF but I havent had n e luck there.

Something is up if a stock spring won't move at 30, are you sure the wheel is turning all the way, did you try taking it all the way apart then starting over

It's tore down as we speak while I figure this out. The only thing left is turn the starwheel all the way out of the housing. Which I will do tomorrow and play with it some more.

check the regulator on your compressor. talked a friend through a check on the AFC that he thought was stuck and ended up his regulator was shot. Just another thought.

When disassembled, does the barrel slide very easily onto the shaft? Sometimes when cutting the barrel down it can oval the hole slightly or even burs that will create resistance during its travel.

i ground down my barrel and noticed its about 1/4 inch away from hitting the afc hosuing shouldnt it max at the housing? not to steal the thread...

If you grind it enough, it won't touch the housing at full fuel.

Yes it slides freely. I cleaned the hole out and counter bored the end I cut down. The regulator did occur to me. But I haven't tried it with another one yet. I will do that when I get home. I have a smaller 2 gallon compressor with a built in regulator I will try. Thanks for the reply guys. I will post again this even after I try the other compressor.

I tried the other regulator, same results. I pulled the starwheel out of the housing and I thought I was seeing it bottom out, It wasnt, There was a spot in the last 2 threads. I took my dremel with a flat wheel and fixed them, and that got me probably another 1/4". I can now get full travel at 40 psi with the starwheel backed all the way off. Is that right or should there still be some more room to play with?

That sounds about right.
