keep seein ag pumps and then automotive pumps wondering what the differance between the two are... and what is the more common pump being used. also is there any limitation on what can be used between differant classes.... sorry if any of this dosn't make sense i honestly dunno what im talkin about when it comes to this

thanks

Auto pump would be a P7100 an Ag pump would be a P3000. Most of the 13mm and bigger pumps are Ag pumps because the governer will handle the higher rpms better but there are still alot of 13mm auto pumps out there. Both will flow close to the same fuel around 900-1000cc both will turn high rpms

i've heard the ag pumps are more prone to sticking a plunger at high rpms???

Most stuck plungers come from dirt in the oil or fuel, Possibly the ag style may have more issues because of its higher rpm/ intended use. The faster you run your pump, the hotter it gets, things need more lube.

Just my $.02

there is some mis information here, people refer to a pump with an rsv governor as an ag pump. An rsv can be had on a p3000 or a p7100 or a p8600
it also comes on A pumps and probably more.

the reason a 7100 is better than a 3000 is, it has a larger dia camshaft which allows for a faster cam profile the housing is also cast heavier which is why it is less prone to sticking in a high rpm application.

RSV also requires less rpm drop to move the rack to full fuel.

These are just example numbers.

Say you come out of the hole at 5500 rpm, when you load the engine the rpm start to fall from load, the gov starts moving the rack to maintain your rpm. when the rpm hits 5200 the RSV will have the rack at its max. On a RQV that rpm may be 4900 before the rack is at max.

The numbers are just ones I pulld out of my A$$ for reference.

This is really easy to see with pumps on a test stand.

Make sense???

thanx guys for all the info... got a little better idea of whats goin on now when i hear about ag pumps thnx
