What size tubing should I run to and from my cooler. I was plannin on 4" but not sure if it's good or to big.

Anyone?

The air-water has 4" inlet/outlet.

Would doing all the plumbing in 4" have any downside?

The truck gets used for drag racing and slep pulling.

Thanks

personally im doin mine in 3 inch (same size as compressor outlet) then stepping up with reducers at the cooler. My thinking was to keep velocity up in the pipes versus doing 4 inch. I dont really have any data to back this up though so maybe someone else can chime in here

4" tubing is better, but packaging constraints typically preclude it's use in favor of 3" due to reduced bend radii.

if you do some research on air as a fluid, and the maximum velocity and volumes possible per pipe size per psi pressure, you will find that the 4" is best for many reasons, however as stated it isnt the easiest to package and you would need a custom 4" intake horn

Packaging constraints and a custom intake horn wont be a problem on this truck so it sounds like 4" is the way to go.

Is there a noticable difference in spoolup time between 3" and 4" because of the added volume? Like say for drag racing.

the radius in the 4in pipe is like 12 in or more.i know that you can buy 3in cast alum fittings.f.y.i.

... depends on what they're designed for - cast pressure fittings aren't usually the best choice for airflow applications due to their tight bend radii, heavy cross section & rough interior surface texture.

4" tubing in short radius flavors is often the best method. :Cheer:

i couldnt find any 4in that wasnt a huge rad.this was aluminum.where do i find some short radius?

Go buy some elbows up town and do it. Make whatever angles you want. 3" up to 4" is what we did.
