i have a 76 allis chalmers 190xt motor. looking for suggestion for tranny in a 77 ram

id like a manual tranny. I found a gear splitter. I beefed the suspention and made a new oil pan.

Thats got to be a pretty heavy engine. cast oil right.

Should be lighter than a Cummins...301 CID, and should have a steel pan on it. Nothing too major!

As far as a tranny, I have no idea...I assume you'd have to make it fit. I have tons of those motors sitting here that I'd like to swap into stuff!

i used to work with a guy that had one in a 1 ton ford. I dont know what tranny he had, but he had a brown lite an twin turbos, he claimed 30 plus mpg

I believe the bolt patter on the adapter plates on them is an SAE 3...which could fit lots of medium duty tranny's...but as far as putting a clutch or anything else on them, that could be a little more tricky.

I'm thinking of throwing a 426 in front of an Allison 545 or 643 with a divorced NP205, and making me a off road buggy!
