Hi,

I am curious as to why people use the billet tappet covers? Is it better sealing? or just for looks. I am curious if the is a cover offered that protects against the freeze plugs behind there blowing out.

who make the best bang for the buck cover?

Thanks

for better sealing, to prevent from blowing out the gasket. Aluminum covers usually seal with rtv. To fix a leaking stock gasket, you have to pull the pump to get the cover off.

How about roller cams.....that is why they use billet side covers. There extra room made for the roller cam followers with the billet cover where the stock one bows in to close.

The ones I have seen seal with an O Ring

All the big shops have them, eep,Keating machine, schied, haisley, woodruff pick your poison......

These are the ones I make.

Son of a B####.. didn't even know they made such a thing.. Well there's another thing that's gotta go on the motor before it goes back in.
