Need help selecting which gear to pull with. Have a NV4500 with 3.54 gears and 33 inch tires. I can pull in 3rd gear and it feels really good, turns about 3700 going down the track. I don't feel like my wheel speed is up with everybody elses? I have tried 2nd High and the thing gets under the charger immediatley.

Should I be able to pull 2hi? Is everybody else out there with 3.54's going 2 hi and I just can't cut the mustard? What gives? I don't have the funds to do a 4.10 swap...someone help!

S465 with like a 1.10ar Exhaust housing (should have got a .90 or 1.0 but i got this one and it does really good, seems to allow the turbo to breath so to say...really don't want to go smaller, makes damn good power in the upper rpms it seems)

Do you think I need more fuel? Go to 5k springs? More timing? Do i need a cam?
 
Sound like your housing may be a bit big. A cam would help. WARNING 2nd gear hi range will destroy a trans, its not IF its WHEN.
 
Actually 2nd and 4th are the only gears i would dare hook in. I would stay the hell outa 3rd if it was my truck.
 
so nobody is pulling in 2hi?

Parttime puller, I like your idea, but many have told me that the jump to 35's will not net me enough to justify the swap? Whats the case? I will make the swap proto if it makes a difference!
 
Fass or Airdog, this will help alot. You should be able to hack 2hi. with your set-up.
 
A few months ago I had just my 4k springs with stock valve springs, as I did not see the other side of 4,000 that often if even at all. When I would rev the truck it would rev to 4K then "pop and bang" and it sounded like the valves were floating. So I ordered valve springs and put em on. Ran it a little while, rev'd it up and the same thing happened. Many attribited this to my pump just governing out but I didnt think so. Do you think that I could be starving the injector pump? I have thought this...
 
Its just easier to try and change tires than gears. Most people I know around here with 3.55 run 3 low with 35's...

There are a few guys runnin 2hi but they have 4.10's.

I would check ur fuel pressure at WOT and see what it is. May need a pusher pump/system.
 
I was running 3rd low with 35s and 4.10 and did pretty good. Going to switch to 33s and try 2nd hi or 4th low and see how it does.
 
You will not pull of 4th low with your setup. You will be lucky to get 2nd high watch my video under dragon fire 2nd pull.

That was 2nd high with 3.54's and i have a NV5600 with a 90 exhaust housing but my charger is a little bigger then yours
 
Your charger sizing could be the limiting factor. I had a II SPS62 and pulled in 2nd hi with my 3.54's and 305's (33's) coming out @ 4k with my SO VP. Don't know how I will do with the Silver Bullet, but I plan on having 4.10's by the next time I get to hook.
