i am going to be new to the p pump world. ive done some looking in the search but really havent got a strait answer. ive got my engine out of my 91 to fix a few seals on it and to paint my engine and engine bay, also it is getting p pumped. my question is what timing should i advance my new pump too. my goal with this new setup is to get around 600 to 650hp.

15* can do 600 along with 42* can do 600 also a lot more to a setup than timing, for a street truck 18-20*

Need more info John. Like stock or aftermarket pistons and injectors. Personally, I would pass on info to Weston for his recommendations. Steven

x2 on more info. What's the intended use? Do you have studs or orings? 91.5 would be intercooled with a 145* spray pattern, correct? What injectors are you using? What rpm are you trying to make power at?

Due to my financial state I will be running stock injectors until I can afford new ones. But currently my engine has no orings but does have studs. I tow quite often with my truck and most of the time they are pretty good size loads, it is also my daily driver. Oh and I will be running my current compound setup, stock hx35 and hx55. Thanks for the help. I have never messed with the p pump too much.

I'm no expert but I would set it between 18 and 20*
You probably won't notice much difference in a few degrees unless you have a dyno or dragrace timeslip to compare.

OK good to know. Thank you guys for the help, should have my pumps swapped sometime this week. Kind of curious to see how much different it will run compared to the ve

i like the Ppump motor i put in my 89,i put in just the full cut delivery valves #4 fuel plate and did some afc adjustments and the truck goes sideways off the line.it's fun

That is what I'm hoping for. Everyone says I'm going to miss my ve but I don't think I will.

True, been running 20 for more years that I care to count, 18 if I were towing heavy and I have dynoed 20 and 25 both with the same setup, same hp numbers it just made it high in the RPM scale.
