Some of you may know me from racing and other sites. I have a heavily modded 02. It has been a dream but a few days again I backed it up out of my driveway and had a bad sound like like compression going where it does not belong. Take it apart and find that #4 exhaust bridge is off. Check it put it back on and checked lash it was .027 across all 6 holes. Fix the bridge and adjust them all and drive it for two days secodn day I am getting on the freeway all is well pulling a small hill and 50 PSI of boost with no box on. All of the sudden pop like a boot and turbo back. I pull over think well I deserve that ans have not had one let go in a long time. After looking nothing is wrong but I have a miss at idle and a lope in gear. I got home checke dit again #4 exhaust bridge was off and this time the rocker was broke and push rod looked liek an S. replaced them adjusted them and nothing changed but it did toss out a 1698 code??? Anyone?:what:

Springs probably weak and tighten down that lash to .018 exhaust and .008 intake. Double check all of your injector hold downs also while in there. A list of mods will also help us help you. One persons idea of heavily modded may be alot different than another guys.

Enterprise pullers cam, enterprise port and polished head and 60# springs, Block punched 60 over, twins (phat shaft 64/14 over S400 source) Drag comp, DonM's Mach 7's I think thats it 700HP at the wheels.

One thing I forgot to mention #4 exhaust my proplem child has to have the adjuster almost all the way out to be in spec.

Lobe is flat or worn off. Get a dial indicator and measure another cyl rocker travel, then measure the problem cyl. If its different you have your problem.

Well I got bored and some soare tiem today. I ran the truck again for a minute trying to find the mystery sound. It is exhaust out the intake again. Not alot but enough to feel it. I removed all intake rockers and forced air into the ait filter pipe 10 pounds woudl pop pff my home made boost leak checker consisting of a rubber hose PVC pipe and an air chuck. SO it holds withthe valves loose. SO WTF?

That is what everone is trying to tell you. The lobe are worn off #4 anyway.

I agree but why is it that the exhaust is gettign inthe intake until i remove the rockers? If it was worn woudnt it be less likly to leak?

Good question, it should not do that. I am guessing you have the intake valve a little tight and it is not quite seating until you pull the bridge.

Take the time to check the lift of all the cam lobes at the rocker.

I've had customers with this issue. It was weak valvesprings that didn't have enough pressure to keep the parts together. 60# springs suck!

They are enterprise springs they have lasted very well. What springs do you suggest?
