Anyone familiar with the 0500 code?

I know it is a "no speed sensor signal" code, but what does it mean and what are the possible causes? I hope I don't have bgblue syndrome...:hehe:
 
Does the speedo work? If it does, it is more than likely the sensor at the back of the trans. Plastic, usually white. 1" socket IIRC. Two wire connector - Ive seen the wires break too.

Yea speedo works fine, I'll check out the sensor and see what it looks like. Wonder if it hinders performance? BTW, thanks for the advice!
 
I have also heard that you can set this code from spinning the tires too. I don't know if that is true or not.

I set the same code up here this winter. Cleared it with the 'ol Not so Smarty and it hasn't came back since.
 
I will get that code if I spin the tires, slip the clutch, or high idle my truck. The code doesn't affect performance, on my truck anyway, and will go away on its own after so many starts.
