Just fabbed dual rear calipers on the LIL Red truck and still cant hold 20PSI without using our rear line lock. Without line Lock I cant hold more than say 10PSI. The line lock will hold sometimes and it is becoming a pain. Can anyone recommend a hydra boost set up that I can run off my power steering pump? A guy mentioned this to me just not sure where to start looking as for fitment and specs. I hear that old panel trucks had this set up.

Or does anyone have a master cylinder that can hold good boost with daul calipers?

Thanks in advance.

Hydroboost was available from the mid to late 90s and up in CTD trucks.

I just found that out... Reading on the internet. LOL wish I would have read 1st.....Is that setup ran off the power steering pump? Do you guys think it will produce much more pressure than a vacuum style master cylinder?

Yes...hydroboost is ran off of the P/S pump. Likely will produce more "boost" than a vacuum booster.

Thanks. Do you know if it is just t'd off the fluid lines or does it have a brake specific outlet on the pump?

it runs through the booster then to the steering box. but either way should work

Yep. Brakes get priority, steering gets the leftovers. I installed a Chevy unit on my first gen. Works much better than the vac unit.

Can you elaborate on your chevy brake setup? I have the same issue with my 2nd gen after rear disks.

Gotta be a ton of guys on here with the same issues that have fixed them one way or another. Please post your master cylinder type if you have success with it on dual calipers or where your hydro booster came off of. Thanks.

I swapped out my vac assist for a hydro unit out of a 97. Its a night and day difference.

I put a kit on bubba a year ago I found it on a restoration site it looks the same as the system that is on a chevy today splices in to p/s hoses was less than $ 600. landed here in canada works very well.

ive been toying with the idea also. after driving a 97 with a hydro booster i wanted one!

so is it a bolt up deal or am i goin to get to fabricate:woohoo:

bolt on... you can then buy lines to and from unit and just t into return to pump.

What kind of boost is the system allowing you to hold and do you happen to know what application it was for? Thanks.

I have decided to go the hydroboost option. It now is just a matter of finding what vehicle to take one off of that will produce the most pressure. All I know to go off of is bigger the truck bigger the system LOL. Seems the astrovan system is a conversion that many use on the net. I think it is mostly due to a squared mounting bracket that most can fit to a firewall easily.

Get a master cylinder and hydroboost from an 05 F250, they have a huge bore that will throw alot of volume to the brakes.

I have ran several different setups on my F100 in my sig and also on other custom trucks. I generally pay $100-$125 for a low mileage hydroboost and matching master cylinder, figure around $150 or so for lines depending on where you shop.

Its been a while since I have looked it up but I think vaccum usually supplies about 1500 psi and hydroboost is roughly twice that, so yeah its a very big difference. If you need any specifics let me know I will try and help anyway I can.
