This morning on my way to school i was stopped at a red light. When the light changed i layed into the throttle for fun. When i let off and put my foot back on the throttle it was really soft like feathery, it was just really soft. I don't really no how to explain it to well but then it makes me start off in second also sometimes when i come to a stop. Then after a like 30 seconds it will come back and be hard when i go to hit the throttle again. I no its on the VP44 cause the truck still runs perfect. If anyone has an idea of what this might be any imput well needed.

Thanks chris

Possibly a governor solenoid or transducer issue in trans, mdlucky has an article on how to reset and setup an apps...helped me out for sure, but my problem is still in trans..

so you are saying that you can reset your old APPS so you don't have to buy a new one?

You can adjust it so the ECM/PCM is seeing the correct voltage when the pedal is relaxed, but as far as saving a trashed one, no. It is basiacally a potentiometer with some other do dads in it. When the wiper or the pads go, it is done. Do you have any electronics on your truck that can read "% throttle"? An Edge attitude or numerous other gauges can read it. I'd suggest trying to read and see if the readout matches what you are putting in with the pedal before I'd blame the apps. Find a similar truck and swap them and try it then swap it back. In less than one hour, you'll know without spending any money. My "loaner" APPS is being used to test a truck right now. Just find one to borrow.

Without seeing the truck, I'm not sure if your having one issue or two. By soft feel, do you mean the tension on the pedal, or the throttle response?

An APPS issue will not cause the pedal to feel any different or the 2nd gear starts. Pedal feel would be something mechanical, check your throttle cable,TV cable, and the TV lever/spring on the transmission. If the TV lever is not returning to it's idle position it would have slack in the TV cable causing a softer pedal and possibly weird shifting.

If the TV cable, lever, and return spring look good, replace the gov pressure solenoid and transducer to fix your 2nd gear start issue.

Just thought I would through this out there. It mainly does this sh!t when the truck is cold. (not that I'm beating on it while its cold). It just takes the throttle a long time to respond back so its firm

Thanks Chris

Another stupid thing it does, say i put the throttle half way then let it back to the idle spot it was will be soft from the spot i left it. if i put it to the floor real quick and let off the throttle is fully firm again? what the F can this be.. Thanks for any imput it will be greatly appreciated

Thanks Chris
