it will work for just guages but you have to install the egt probe to get your egt's... Or at least as far as i know it should work. I think you can buy just the monitor from edge if thats what you want
 
i got a good deal on one in the forsale section i think its listed for 450.00
1 yr old is on an 02 right now
 
If you want a stand alone monitor you can try the quad commander. I have one on my 2000 and it works great. I am only monitoring EGT and Boost, but it can monitor upto seven parameters, record data, and adjust many different performance boxes. I might even consider a trade since I am only using it for EGT and boost.
