Alright, I'm new here.. As a matter of fact, I just posted in the Introduction section. Anyways, lets cut to the chase. I did search for "Aurora 5000" but nothing seemed to answer my questions.

Here's what I got.. I got an Aurora 5000 turbo from a buddy.. It has a 17cm2 exhaust housing on it. My truck is a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 6 speed 4x4. Obviously it has the HO pump which is definitely a big limiting factor. My thing is, I want a strong, reliable truck. I want my truck to be a fast, fun weekend ride. I would like to attend maybe a few hometown pulls next summer. Winning is not my goal. I just want to have fun and enjoy the most power that I can with my truck.

I am just wanting to know how to set the truck up to make it fun to drive on the weekends yet be a decent competitor on the track.. I realize I am going to need injectors, head studs, head gasket, possibly a cam.. What sizes of these items do you all reccommend and is there some things I am missing?

Sorry to be so explanitory on my first post but I see where people complain because information is not clear.

Any help is appreciated!

Id like to know also, there seems to be some testing on the 3rd gen trucks but nothing really for the 2nd gens,

What injectors does this turbo need? Does it work well in a 2nd gen?

Yea, that seems to be what Im finding.. Alot of 3rd generation info but not any 2nd gen.

im not a 24v guy really, but from the little reading I have done, it seems a set of 200hp injectors would probably be best for an aurora 5000, along with an edge drag comp, no headgasket until you blow the stocker, and with 12mm arp headstuds you should be good for 50-60psi, just do them 1 at a time. cam is not required but will make things alot more fun.

I had a 5000 on my 92 and loved it, I got the 3000 on it now but i got them as a twin kit and will be putting them on together soon but i wanted to run them both as a single first. The 5000 spooled pretty quick considering how big the thing is, I'm not sure what exhaust housing it has on mine but it definately pulled way hard once the turbo lit and would go past 40 lbs but i tried to keep it under that since i don't have studs yet. I bought it used from a guy that had 2 24 valves and he had it on as a single on his 01 6 speed with an edge juice with attitude and 100 horse injectors and he said he liked it for playin around but didn't like it for towing cuz he said it didn't seem to be spooled up enough to tow as good as a smaller turbo. It ran dang cool on my truck, I couldn't even hit 1100 degrees if i tried and I'm throwin quite a bit of fuel at it. I'd say for a toy truck that ya love to cruise in and could do a annual truck pull with then i say it'd be a great turbo for you. Like others said, put some head studs in and get at least some 100 horse or more injectors and a chip and should be a fun setup.

Thanks alot for the information guys. I had planned on running 200's. So I'll try a few things and see how it works out...
