auto to manual problem.... i think

Ok when this truck was bought it had a hx35 and a set of 150hp injectors in it. Bought it cheap because it didn't run exactly right.(FRIEND OF MINES TRUCK). Would run really good till about 2500 rpm and just fall on its face like back to idle until you let off throttle. First thing he did was put a new wiring harness on it because previous owner cut it all to crap trying to find the problem. No help. Next he burnt the trans up running the piss out of it tryin to find the problem. Done a manual to auto swap. Still same thing. Finally he broke down and bought a injection pump. The big pump from industial. Well it fixed the fall on your face problem. But now all it would do is smoke like crap and not light the charger or over fuel being that small of a charger. So he started changing turbos to a few diff ones and still will not light one. Turbo on it now is a 2.8 hypermax turbo a friend of mine has been pulling with for several years now so i know the turbo should run.

I know i have keep letting this slip my mind but this is my last resort he is ready to sell the truck but i cant admit defeat. What im wondering he never got the PCM/ECM or whatever needs to be done when swappin trans. Could this be the whole problem we have been missing the whole time? thanks for anybodys help

Yes I am surprised you got past 1900rpm before default. I have heard that there is another default point at 2500 rpm as well. You are right about the ECU, either get it flashed to manual or change it. The ECU is waiting for a tail shaft rotation imput which is in the Auto. The signal is transmited down the CAN BUS system.
