Auto trans Magic

Perhaps I have posted this in the wrong forum so mods feel free to relocate it if need be.
Please excuse me if this is elementary but my experience with these is limited and I have only had one apart ( a few times all be it :what: ).
Excluding the TC can anyone tell me what the Magic in a auto trans is other than the VB?
Is it not reasonable to think that you could take one of each of the big three or four trans builders transmissions and disassemble them and see 3 or 4 sets of pretty much identical internals as far as what parts are upgraded correct? If this is the case the main reason for failure (success) is the VB in the majority of autos no? TIA
 
Clearances. Each builder has proprietary clearances that improve HP handling and tranny life. Like you stated the VB also makes up a good part of the magic too. I've only had a few DTTs and a few Goerends apart and the hard parts are mostly identical.

Thats kind of what I thought, looks like I'm going to have to try one of those magic VBs

I havent had any failures I just cant make it shift where/how I like?
