Powerstroke guy turned Cummins.

picked up my first Cummins, 96' Reg cab long box 12 valve auto 2wd.

When I turn the ignition on, all the warning lights are on in the dash.. Water in fuel, wait to start, Check engine, GEN, Trans temp.. everything. while all the lights are on the Check engine light is flickering fast and i can hear a ticking sound under the hood.. checked it out and its the Trans Relay in the fuse box by the brake booster.

I continue to start the truck and drive it down the road in drive with all the lights on in the dash. truck will NOT go into 3rd or OD unless I punch it.. then all the lights go off and the truck will not stay out of OD and sometimes when I pull up to an intersection the torque converter will lock up and the truck will die.

Thinking it may be the Governor pressure sensor/solenoid in the trans. but before I go ahead and tackle that tomorrow night, just thought I would give you guys a shot and see what you think.

Thank you and love the site!

I replaced the sensor and solenoid and still nothing, thinking its a bad ground or short somewhere in the system, trans relay still clicks aswell and when Im under the truck I put my hand on the trans pan and can feel something clicking in there at the same time.

does anyone have any idea whats going on?

Just tried a PCM from a buddys 12 valve and was worse. Where would be a good place to start as far checking the grounds? Not overly to experienced dealing with automotive electrical.

Battery to body, battery to engine, engine to body, harness to PCM, possible body to PCM. This would be a great place to start cleaning grounds. Also clean your terminals well, removing wires that attach to the terminal and cleaning both sides of it. Good luck.

Was his the same year and trans? I can't remember what year they switched transmissions but it was around 95-96

got the same problems, still trying to figure this out myself. any help from anyone is greatly appreciated. my truck has been down since june. thanks

You need a service manual and some help troubleshooting.
Start by varifying input volts and grounds. Then I'd go to the 5V supplys. Then on to a very close inspection of the wiring harness everywhere.
